    Very Nice Cheap Speakers 1/6/2011

For the price you pay (under $30), these are very nice speakers for a desktop computer. Great sound, unless you blare them all the way up, then there is definitely some distortion. There is a tone button to adjust for the sound, to make this less apparent. I bought a new set of speakers basically just because I really wanted a set to match my black computer/monitor/mouse, ect. So I bought for the color mostly, as my old computer speakers still work (got them in 1999). They were white though, and looking a bit off-white d/t age. But I got them with my first new computer, and they still sound brand new today. The model number on them was so old I could not even google the info on them!! lol But they were Altec Lansing speakers, so I knew I wanted to stick with that brand and hope I got the same quality today, as back then. So far they sound about the same, but I think my white ones had more wattage to them, as they seemed to go a bit louder before distorting the sound. But now my desktop is all matching, so I am happy about that, and since they sound identical, it's like I just switched the housing on my speakers and not the actual speakers inside (at this point anyways). I hope they last 12+ years as well as my older pair. They are now going to the bedroom desktop system I have, where no one sees but me anyways :)) If your looking for a cheap pair of speakers with a descent quality, I don't think you will find much better than these, and you should get the longevity in them to boot! I saw quite a bit of great reviews on these speakers on other websites such as cnet & newegg...but none on here, so I thought I would be the 1st to write about them, so no one passes them over just because they have no reviews yet on buy.com... this should definitely be one in your list of speakers under $50 (even under $30 actually, but they compare to alot higher priced ones). Give them a try, I don't think you will be disappointed...unless you are one of those freaks that wants a base thumping surround sound stereo system for $30...I say good luck finding that..hahahaaaa. For the price, you get what you pay for....and more in my opinion...on this set of speakers. I personally didn't care much for the shape of the speakers, but mine sit back from the monitor, so they are not very noticeable anyways, and some people think they are great because they are unique in their styling. Each to their own....but shape wasn't a problem for me...I was looking for sound quality, color, and brand name PERIOD. I got it, and am very happy with them!!
